10th Hole “Saxon’s Hamlet”

Slight dog leg to the left a perfect starter! Most of the trouble is down the left hand side where out of bounds and a bunker come into play. Ideally a nice iron shot to the right of the fairway will leave a short iron to the green! With the big stick, a slight draw over the bunker will leave you with only a short shot to the green with even possibly just a putt.

11th Hole “Mouse Hole”

A short but very troublesome par 3 surrounded by potential hazards, including water covering the length of the front of the green, a bunker to the right and a Willow Tree overhanging on the left whilst the back of the green is completely surrounded by trees.

12th Hole “Abbotsley Rise”

A fairly short par 4 with out of bounds on the left. Ideally a lay up shot to the gap will leave you a simple iron shot to the green. Long hitters may consider a slight cut with a driver/ 3 wood that will not leave them far off the green.

13th Hole “Downs”

Appreciatively the second most difficult hole on the course being a lengthy par 4. With a slight dog leg to the right and a well-protected green requiring some precise hitting. A Good drive will put you up or if not past the big oak trees to the left of the fairway, a precise second shot will be required to reach the green, left is all out of bounds and to the right of the green is a creek running alongside it.

14th Hole “Briar Hill”
This is a fairly straightforward par 4 with a tricky sloping fairway. A tee shot up the right hand side of the fairway is best as the ball with naturally fall away to the left, leaving a short second shot to a fairly flat green.

15th Hole “The Lakes”

The shortest par 5 on the course, but not to be underestimated! A good tee shot will set you up for a relatively unchallenging shot to the green. For the not so long hitters a lay up shot may be required as a hazard runs the width of the fairway causing problems, then with an accurate short iron giving you every chance of a birdie.

16th Hole “Pear Tree Wood”

This Par 5 as the crow flies is a straight hole but going around the spinney is a must to make par. With a decent tee shot carrying over the water hazard, a fairly kind 2nd shot will put you in touching distance of the green and a short chip giving you every chance of a birdie.

17th Hole “Corncracker”

With a dog leg to the right it plays very tight, be sure to keep your tee shot straight as any thing left is out of bounds and right will leave you in all sorts of trouble with an extremely difficult approach shot to the green. Be careful when approaching the green as it is surrounded by trouble with a bunker to the front right and out of bounds all round the back.

18th Hole “Willow”

An interesting par 3 with a big green so plenty of landing space BUT! Hit it long and you find yourself out of bounds, hit it short and you‘ll be wet, with a great big willow covering the right hand side of the green, so accuracy is key.

1st Hole “Windy Ridge”

A long par 3, with a tight fairway and an undulating green. A series of bunkers cross diaginally in fron to f you. Miss the green however and depending on where you finish you could be facing a bogey or worse.

2nd Hole “Yew Trees”

A relatively short but challenging par 4, a slight dog left to the right with pines all down the right marking out, out of bounds. Good club selection or a good imagination are needed to ensure you find this green and avoid the pond looming at the back of the green.

3rd Hole “Moat Side”

Unmistakably the hardest hole on the course this is an absolute scorcher of a par 5. With a long tight fairway, a decent drive will tempt you to try to hit the green in two but the area surrounding the green is very undulating and missing will leaving you a difficult pitch or chip. An alternative approach is to accept the need for a three shots but even that  can be extremely difficult as the landing area at the bottom of the hill is well protected by woodlands on both sides. Once you reach the two tier green your putting skills will be tested. Definitely a feature hole leaving you breathless merely at its sight

4th Hole “Blue Bells”

This is a pretty par 3, with a tight approach as the fairway is lined with woodland on both sides and a raised green that is protected with bunkers, anything short will see the ball hold up and roll back towards you.

5th Hole “Pine Wood”

The Name of the hole says it all, all be it the shortest par 4 fetching just short of 300 yards. However this short but deadly hole has wood all down the right, a hazard from the right running the width of the fairway all up the left through to the back of the green. Anything left is out of bounds. A long shot over the hazard and a short iron into a well-protected green is definitely the safest way to approach this hole.

6th Hole “Lansbury Plain”

A beautifully carved par 5 with woods all down the side forming a natural dog leg to the right, a hazard running the width of the fairway is there to catch the shorter approach shots, with a fair sized green surrounded by woods. A long straight drive could set up a second shot inot the green but the tree on the corner make accuracy a premium. Aim left as anything right will run the risk of never leaving the woods. an approach shot short of the pin always leaves the easier putt on this sloping green

7th Hole “Barley Slice”

This hole has a sweeping bend to the left comprising of woods, whilst out right may see you out of bounds. A good drive just off centre to the right will leave you in an ideal position to hit a mid iron to an inviting green sloping towards you surrounded with slopes backing onto conifers.

8th Hole “Home Soon”

A big wide open fairway, with trees on the left and a big oak in the middle of this undulating fairway. This can give a sloping stance for your next shot into a flat green guarded by a bunker on the right and trees close behind.

9th Hole “The Stumps”

A sound par 4, a fairly short hole which will lead you back to the clubhouse, left spells out of bounds or a water hazard, right may leave you unsighted to the green so keep it straight and you’ll have an excellent chance of birdie, watch the green as it is well protected by a bunker on the front right.
