The 6,311-yard, par 72 Abbotsley Course is regarded as one of the finest in the county.
Set in beautiful parkland, the course is multi dimensional. You have to be straight off the tee so the driver is not always the best option, the terrain offers plenty of different challenges and there is a good contrast in yardages.
Unmistakeably, the hardest hole on the course is the par 5 12th. This is an absolute scorcher with a long tight fairway. A decent drive will tempt you to try and hit the green in two but the area surrounding the green is very undulating and missing will leave you a difficult pitch or chip. Definately a feature hole leaving you breathless merely at its signt.
Whilst the 6,087 yard par 70 Cromwell Course is more open, offering marvellous views across the Cambridgeshire countryside. It is a more forgiving course which is perhaps more suited to the less experienced golfer.
However, the fast, true and contoured
greens make the Cromwell an
enjoyable and stern test for even the most experienced golfer.
